Interested Primary 6 pupils may apply to join CVSS in Secondary One 2024 through the 2023 Direct School Admission – Secondary (DSA-Sec) Exercise under the school’s distinctive programmes:
DSA-SEC TALENTS OFFERED
1. SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS (STEM) – AERONAUTICS
Students can look forward to a range of exciting opportunities to develop their interests, talents, and passions in STEM, with a particular focus on Aeronautics. Through the school’s Applied Learning Programme in Aeronautics, students will have the chance to explore the science behind flight and develop relevant skills like coding. Additionally, they will be able to participate in a variety of STEM-related activities, including learning journeys and authentic learning experiences.
Students can also join the school’s Aeronautics Club, Robotics Club, and Environment Club, where they can engage with like-minded peers and pursue their interests further. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to participate actively in the school’s various STEM/Aeronautics programs, including joining various STEM-related competitions such as the Math/Science Olympiads, NZ Elementz Science Research Competition, Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors Award, Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition, Drone Odyssey Challenge, and more.
Experts from STEM-related industries will be invited to give talks and engage in dialogues with students, allowing them to learn more about the latest developments in these fields. Finally, students will also have the chance to take part in student internships with a partner company in the aviation industry, giving them valuable hands-on experience and insights into potential future careers. a. Evidence of talent, passion and self-initiative to learn in the area of STEM and/or Aeronautics.
b. Participation/achievements in STEM and/or Aeronautics-related school programmes/events or external activities (e.g. CCAs/enrichment programmes/competitions/hobbies).
c. Performance during the selection process which includes an assessment in STEM/aeronautics and an interview by a selection panel.
d. Successful candidates are expected to participate actively and contribute to the school’s various STEM/Aeronautics programmes (e.g. STEM-related competitions, Aeronautics Applied Learning Programme, Aeronautics Club etc.).
a. Please note that meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the applicant will be shortlisted/given an offer.
b. Shortlisted applicants will be notified via email by 7 July 2023 and will be required to sit for an assessment on STEM/Aeronautics and attend an interview in Compassvale Secondary School between 10 July 2023 and 11 August 2023.
c. Applicants may showcase any evidence of their pursuit of passion in STEM/Aeronautics that may support their application during the interview (e.g. artefacts of drones/gliders, pictures/videos of themselves during competitions etc.).
d. All applicants will be informed of the application outcome via email by 11 September 2023.
e. The school’s decision is final and there will be no appeal process.
2. SPORTS AND GAMES: FLOORBALL (BOYS & GIRLS) and SOFTBALL (BOYS ONLY)
Compassvale Secondary School is dedicated to nurturing student-athletes, fostering positive character traits and sportsmanship, and achieving excellence in sports. Our team of highly committed teachers and instructors work tirelessly to encourage and support each individual’s growth and development in sports.
Our student-athletes have excelled in various National Inter-School Competitions, and many have gone on to compete at higher levels in their post-secondary institutions.
Our school provides students with a range of opportunities to develop their talent and passion in competitive Floorball/Softball. Through our collaborations with sporting organisations and Institutes of Higher Learning, students can participate in numerous competitions, receive top-notch training and guidance, and develop their leadership potential within their chosen sport.
In addition, students can look forward to participating in training programmes organised by the school to hone their skills and prepare for upcoming competitions. We are excited to announce the newly developed CCA nutrition curriculum, designed to help prepare students for competitions by providing education on sports nutrition.

b. Applicants may showcase any evidence of their pursuit of passion in Floorball/Softball that may support their application during the interview (e.g. Certificate of participation/ achievements in Floorball/Softball competitions, pictures/videos of themselves during competitions etc.).
c. All applicants will be informed of the application outcome via email by 11 September 2023.

1. Application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 4 May 2023, 11am to 31 May 2023, 3pm. For more details, please refer to MOE website – www.moe.gov.sg/dsa-sec.
2. Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.
3. Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school, and participate in the activities related to the talent they are selected for from year 1-4.
